Reese’s Take5: A Social Experiment

Social Experiment: a type of research done in fields like psychology or sociology to see how people behave in certain situations or how they respond to particular policies or programs. Informal, personal, and humorous experimentation, such as pranks, is sometimes also referred to as a social experiment. From Dictionary.com.

Last week, several students began a social experiment in the library. They hung up a delicious snack with a sign that said “Don’t take please!” How long would it last?

Holiday Book Advent!

Stop by the library every day in December to see a new book featured!

There are 15 school days leading up to Winter Break. For each of those days, we will feature a new, wintry book for you to check out.

Today, December 1, we are featuring Top Elf by Caleb Zane Huett.

Ollie has always been happy just being an elf and inventing new games for Christmas with his best friend Celia–but then the current Santa (descendent of the original) decides to retire and announces that there will be an open competition for the position of next Santa (his son Klaus is not pleased) and suddenly Ollie and the other elves are vying with the Santa children for the Big Red Suit.

This is the perfect, funny read to get in the mood for the holidays!

Thanks for a Great Fair!

We had such a great time last week for the book fair. The Skyline community helped make it one of the greatest fairs yet! We loved meeting so many families on the Trick or Treat night. However, our favorite part of the fair was spinning the wheel to give away free books.

As a result of the fair’s success, the library acquired 39 new books and earned over:

$1,400!

Our next book fair will be in the spring. Can’t wait!
